Holly Cappello ( Holigoil ) is a Portland, Oregon painter and sculptor.
Her artwork showcases a vibrant color palette dominated by neon colors, which create visually stunning and dynamic pieces. Her confident use of mixed media is evident, with bold ink brushstrokes, intricate line work, and geometric shapes layered over textured backgrounds in gouache and pencil. The abstract forms and surreal elements highlight Holigoil’s skill in blending different techniques to produce layered and rich pieces. Themes of transformation and interconnectedness are primarily at play in her work. There are central figures with crystalline heads and flowing bodies, suggesting a being in a state of flux or creative metamorphosis. Symbolic elements like eyes, hands, and crystalline shapes, representing "inner perception” as it exists in one's mind, invite viewers to explore the deeper meanings and narratives within Holigoil’s artwork.
Currently, she loves to get lost in the mediums of ink, acrylic, clay, and wood.
Her art education includes sculpture, lost wax casting, watercolor, encaustic painting, and the anatomical design and production of human teeth, for which she holds a dental degree!
She is finishing her BFA in sculpture at Portland State University.
