Holigoil (Holly Cappello) creates otherworldly artwork that explores themes of transformation and the interconnectedness of the creative process. Her Inner Space series features abstract and surreal elements, populated by figures in a state of flux and creative metamorphosis. Her brushwork and vibrant palettes in gouache, ink, and acrylic are layered with intricate linework. Motifs such as eyes, hands, symbolic animals, and crystalline forms represent “inner perception,” guiding the viewer through the deeper narratives of her magical Inner Space realm.
Beyond painting, Holigoil is currently exploring carving wood and creating interactive sculptures, embracing new skills like welding and kinetic mobile making. Her multidisciplinary background spans sculpture, lost wax casting, watercolor, and encaustic painting. She also holds a degree in dental technology, with specialized knowledge in the anatomical design and fabrication of human teeth, a precision craft that informs the detail and structure of her artwork. She is currently completing her BFA in Sculpture at Portland State University.
